I have studied English since the early age. I have had a good command over English language since childhood as I went to English-Russian bilingual schools since Nursery. And by the time I reached university, my English was decent.
When the time came to go to university, everyone assumed I’d do an English degree, but I desired a change. So I chose Arts&Literature in Chinese instead. People think that this major can’t have helped me in my English studies. But, surprisingly, on the contrary. Methods people use to learn Chinese characters can be implemented in any language learning.
I have taught English in China for 5 years, and currently teaching teenagers and adults in Colombia.
I have a 120-hour TEFL certificate and five years of experience as an ESL tutor. I am most experienced teaching students who speak Chinese and Spanish, and I understand how these languages cause unique errors when you learn English.
I help my students to develop a greater understanding of English and develop skills through engaging activities centered around reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
It is said that learning is a journey, not a destination. In my humble opinion, that is quite certain.
When I look back, I see how the English language has opened a door for me to another universe.
It’s given me a different way of seeing people and the world; a different way of talking about human emotions, history, food, life, and even the weather. And, I hope, it’s made me a better person.
As I write this in English, I can feel how much richer my life has become with a second language.
And, ultimately, I would like to share a quote “If there’s a will there’s a way. Nothing will stop us from moving forward if we have a strong determination to achieve it!”. If you truly have a motivation, I could be the one helping you to achieve your goals and become fluent in English.
